Dr. Lynn Sharples
|
Dr. Sharples grew up in the Lansing area and began working at Miller Animal
Clinic in the kennels while she was in high school. While earning her Bachelors
in Animal Science, she worked at several dairy and horse farms. She married Dr.
Anthony Kooney in 1993 and received her DVM from Michigan State University
College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. She has two young daughters and many
cast-away pets. She enjoys riding horses and almost any outdoor activity. Dr. Sharples grew up in the Lansing, MI

Dr. Anthony Kooney
|
Dr. Kooney was born and raised in Wyandotte, MI. He received his Bachelors degree in
Microbiology from MSU in 1984, and went on to do research in Diabetes at Rockefeller University
in New York, NY. Dr.
Kooney came back to Michigan and interned at
Miller Animal Clinic for three years while he pursued his Degree in Veterinary
Medicine. After graduating in 1990 he
worked as a large and small animal practitioner for 9 years. He returned to Miller Animal Clinic in 1999 to
focus primarily on small animal medicine and surgery. He currently lives in DeWitt with his wife
and two daughters, where he tends to a modest apple orchard, and enjoys
cross-country skiing and gardening.

Dr. Alice Martel
|
Dr. Martel grew up on a small beef cattle farm in Eaton
Rapids, MI. After graduating from Michigan State
with a Masters Degree in Botany and a Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences
she taught 8th grade science for 11 years in East Lansing.
Dr. Martel then went back to school, and in 1980 graduated with her DVM
from Michigan State.
She has worked at Miller Animal Clinic since 1981. Dr. Martel is married to Dr. Glenn Miller and
they have one cat. In her spare time she
enjoys playing the banjo and guitar, singing, tap-dancing and teaching
aerobics.

Dr. Deanna Rendel
|
Dr. Rendel grew up in Ann Arbor
and also Rochester, MI.
She graduated with her DVM from Michigan State
in 1991, and started working at Miller Animal Clinic in 1992. She is married and has two sons. Her family also includes three dogs, four
cats, a guinea pig, and a fish named Oscar.

Dr. Monica Riegler
|
Dr. Riegler graduated from Michigan State
with her DVM in 1997. She practiced in Vicksburg, MI for one
year, and then moved back to Lansing.
She worked at Eastside Animal
Hospital with Mary Seager
for 7 years before coming to Miller Animal Clinic in 2006. She has a wonderful husband, Tony, and two
lovely children, Aubrey, and Steven. Her
pets are a Boston Terrier, BoSock, and a cat, The “T”.

Dr. Catherine Westaway
|
Dr. Westaway has lived in Michigan
since 1995. She graduated from Portage Central High School,
and went on to do her undergraduate studies at MSU. A 2006 DVM graduate, Dr. Westaway is very
excited to begin her career as a Veterinarian at Miller Animal Clinic. In her spare time she enjoys many outdoor activities
and sports, particularly camping, swimming, and skiing. Dr. Westaway is also the proud parent of a
crazy lab mix named Putter, and two cats, Evie and Merrick.

Dr. Teri Sexton
|
Dr. Sexton grew up in Arcadia,
California. In 1982 she received her Bachelors Degree in
Fine Arts and Religious Studies from the college
of Notre Dame in Belmont, CA. She graduated from MSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine
in 1992. After graduation she worked at
the Michigan Humane Society
Veterinary Hospital
and Shelter in Auburn Hills, where her focus was on companion animal and
shelter medicine. Dr. Sexton is
currently practicing part time at Miller Animal Clinic and serves as a relief
veterinarian for other local veterinary hospitals as well. She volunteers at the Westside YMCA, is an
avid swimmer and cyclist, loves to romp with her dogs and write poetry.

Cindy
Practice Manager
|
Cindy started her career in veterinary medicine twenty-one
years ago as a receptionist, in San
Jose, CA. She graduated in 1987 with an Animal Science/Veterinary
Technology certificate from Houston
Community College. She
worked as veterinary technician for eleven years. In 1998, she made a career
move to veterinary management. She attended the Veterinary Management
Developing School
through AAHA in 1998. She completed the Practice Management Certificate Program
through Michigan State University
and The Eli Broad College of Business in 1999.
Cindy joined the
Miller Animal Clinic team in 2004. She resides in Davison, Michigan
with her family, which includes three dogs and two cats. She enjoys gardening,
cooking, & golf.

Licensed Veterinary Technicians
|
Licensed Veterinary Technicians are integral members of our
health care team. They are entrusted
with diverse medical responsibilities that include animal nursing care,
laboratory specimen analysis, surgical assistance, anesthesia, radiographic
imaging (x-ray), nutritional management, dental cleaning, physical therapy, and
client education. These varied duties afford the veterinary technician a
profound impact on every aspect of patient care. Approximately two years of
academic training is required for veterinary technicians.

Kimberly
Intern
|
Kimberly has worked at Miller Animal Clinic since
November 2000. Her many jobs here include, kennel assistant, veterinary
assistant, receptionist, surgical assistant and intern. She completed four years
of pre-vet studies. Kimberly now attends Dental Hygienist School and plans to
graduate in June 2008. She has a yellow lab named Chester, Sheba, a black cat and a beta fish named
Sherman.

Aimee
Intern
|
Aimee has worked at Miller Animal Clinic since December 2002. She graduated
from Michigan StateUniversitywith a bachelor degree in Human
Biology 2002. In 2007 she graduated from MichiganStateas a licensed Veterinary
Technician. She currently has 6 cats and 2 ferrets that are her furry children. |
